City Information
San Servolo is an Italian island in the Venetian Lagoon, to the southeast of San Giorgio Maggiore. Earlier housing a monastery of Benedictine monks, later an asylum for the insane, the island is now home to a museum, Venice International University, and the prestigious International College of Ca' Foscari University. Its first settlement dates back to the 7th century, when a group of Benedictine monks took refuge on the narrow and marshy island. A fascinating and original environment, the island is the perfect place to organise our workshop in Venice. Just a few minutes by water bus from Piazza San Marco. There is a park on the island which has developed to become one of the largest in Venice. It is an integral part of the Island of San Servolo and is unique, not so much for its shape, as for the presence of a number of very old trees.
